How do I regenerate the desiccant in my EDH-4, RCD-1, or RCD-2 dehydrators?

Posted by on Jan 17, 2012 in Frequently Asked Questions | 0 comments

The EDH-4, RCD-1, and RCD-2 dehydrators do not have the means to automatically regenerate their drying agent. Older EDH and RCD dehydrators used a granular desiccant blend consisting of white activated alumina and blue silica gel. The blue silica gel granules turn light pink when spent to indicate the need to renew the desiccant. For the EDH...

Both the heater and supply lights are flashing on the RCU-2 remote for my GIT-4, what does it mean?

Posted by on Aug 4, 2011 in Frequently Asked Questions | 0 comments

There are two possibilities and it depends on how the lights are flashing. If the lights are flashing on and off equally, that is they are on for the same amount of time then this means that the GIT-4 is doing a GFEP self test and should return to normal when it is done. If the heater light is on for a longer period of time than the supply light then it indicates that there is a communication error between the sensor and the controller. A wiring issue, a missing sensor or extreme low temperature that will affect the sensor causes...

How can I test the snow sensor attached to my GIT-4 or GIT-3A gutter deice controller?

Posted by on Aug 4, 2011 in Frequently Asked Questions | 0 comments

The sensors require a temperature below 38F and moisture on the moisture grid. The GIT-4 has a protruding tube that contains the temperature sensor and the moisture grid is on the opposite end. A moist rag or paper towel and a freeze spray or ice can be used to test the sensor.
